With Council’s adopted standards for Exempt and Complying Development, some subdivisions are able to be approved by Accredited Certifiers. The extent of Complying Development largely depends on each individual Council, however State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP 60), sets a minimum criteria state wide where the local Council has not adopted its own policy.
Of particular relevance, is the classifying of Strata Subdivision as Complying Development.
A number of local government areas allow strata subdivision to be given approval by Accredited Certifiers-Category B1, thus avoiding the time consuming delay in obtaining a separate development consent before proceeding to the signing of the strata plan. (Issue of the Strata Certificate).
